My Journey: From Kalalau Trail to Kalalau Capital

Let me take you on a journey. Fifteen years ago, I started out as a wide-eyed Analyst, eager to learn everything I could about the world of M&A. I worked hard, learned from the best, and quickly moved up the ranks to become a Managing Director.
Over the years, I've had the privilege of working with some incredible business owners, each with their own unique stories and goals. One client in particular comes to mind - a packaging company based in Bogota, Colombia. The owner was ready to sell, but wanted to ensure that the business found a buyer that would continue to take care of its employees and uphold its reputation.
Together, we worked to find a buyer who shared their vision and values, and who was committed to preserving the legacy of the business. After exploring various options, we found a perfect match with a packaging company based in the Netherlands that shared our client's passion for quality and innovation. We had to navigate complex international regulations and cultural differences, but we were able to successfully close the deal and our client was thrilled with the outcome. It was a true honor to be a part of that process.
This is just one example of the amazing clients I've had the privilege of working with over the years. And it's experiences like these that have inspired me to start my own company focused on supporting business owners and their M&A advisors and investors throughout the entire M&A journey.

The name of my company, Kalalau Capital, is inspired by my love of the outdoors and my experiences hiking the Kalalau Trail in Kauai, Hawaii. I've hiked the trail twice and failed to reach the end both times, but each time I learned more about myself and those experiences taught me the value of persistence and determination. This drive and persistence is what I bring to every client engagement, and I'm committed to helping business owners and their M&A advisors and investors reach their goals in a way that honors their unique story and vision.
When I'm not working, you can find me hiking, camping, or engaging in other outdoor activities. I'm a proud graduate of Indiana University. I'm a Legal Mergers & Acquisitions Expert (LM&A) Charterholder and a retired CPA. I'm also a member of the Institute for Mergers, Acquisitions & Alliances (imaa).
